Île-de-France is a region in north-central France. It surrounds the nation’s capital, Paris, the city's landmarks include the Louvre, home to da Vinci’s "Mona Lisa," the iconic Eiffel Tower and Gothic Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Outside Paris and around in what we call the Grande Couronne (Great Crown), there are forests, former Royal Castles melted with farms, including dairies that produce milk for Brie.

The river Seine runs through the region. The Seine has many tributaries, including the rivers Oise. It is France's second largest river after the Loire. The region is in an area of lowland called the Paris Basin.

Our self-guided cycling tour in this area will take you to discover amazing must-see Castles, Vaux le Vicomte and its French gardens ‘à la Française”, the impressive Castle of Fontainebleau. Ride along the Seine, the emblematic river winding through the area. Cycle through the imperial forest of Fontainebleau and explore little villages.
