Formed by volcanic activity, it is often called “the Island of Eternal Spring” due to its mild climate, throughout the year. Let our professional tour guide lead you along paths and trails at the heart of nature, through an authentic and original discovery of Madeira while riding mountain bikes : in one hour, you will go from the sharp peaks of ancient volcanoes to the verdant primary forest classified by UNESCO, from the strange and solitary high plateau Paul da Serra, to the sunny southern coast of the island, from the terrace gardens, coloured by a myriad of flowers from the whole world, and irrigated by an enchanting network of levada channels, to the ocean blue.Some say that Madeira offers a taste of Réunion or Costa Rica, a short flight from Lisbon.

Day 1

Arrive in Madeira airport and transfer to the coastal village of Garajau in the South of the island. 3 nights in a 3 star hotel with swimming pool.

Day 2

From Poiso at an altitude of 1400 m (4600 ft)
the underwood trails lead to the heart of the Laurisylva. Ride down along the levadas to the terrace cultivations and Machico, the Southern coastal village of the island.Have a local poncha with honey orange and sugar cane after this warm-up ride. Transfer to your 3 * hotel in Garajau.

Day 3

Transfer on the top of the island, at an altitude of 1818 m (5965 ft) above the sea of clouds floating over the Primary forest. After a fast downhill on paths, tracks and small roads,you’ll ride into the Primary Forest down along the “levadas” to finally reach the sea in Caniço do Baixo. Transfer and overnight in Garajau.

Day 4

Through a network of tracks and trails furrowing along the levada da Serra in the shadow of the primary eucalyptus forest, we will reach the Portela pass which offers a panoramic view over the north coast, the Eagle peak and the Porto da Cruz village. We will go to the seaside for a rhum tasting in a traditional distillery.

Day 5

Today take advantage of the most beautiful part of the island : from the coastal village of Sao Jorge at an altitude of 500 m (1640 ft) ride up the tracks of Miradouro das Voltas offering dramatic views on the deep green forest and the emerald waters of the Ocean. Arrive at Ilha, a mountainous stop and ride down to Santana where you will discover the famous thatched houses of Madeira. Head toward Faial and the sea, bathing and transfer to Paul do Mar (1h) on the Southwestern part of the island.

Day 6

Paul da Serra plateau – Pico Ruivo do Paul – Jardim do Mar Transfer to the Paul da Serra plateau, 1500m high, strange and solitary ; we will go to its highest point, Pico Ruivo do Paul (1640m), emerging over a ferns meadow and offering a magnificent panorama in all the directions. Through a dirt track bordered by giant ferns and tree heaths, and a small moutain road, we will go down to Rabaçal and Estrela de Calheta, on the sunny south coast of the island. Dinner and night on the seaside in the fishermen village of Paul do Mar

Day 7

Plateau de Paul - Fonte do Bispo - Ponta do Pargo – Paul do Mar Riding day dedicated to the Primary Forest, first to the Risco waterfalls, the on the ridges of the plateau and down to the sea and the extreme western part of the island, Ponta do Pargo and then follow the levada to Paul do Mar. Transfer to Funchal

On your own, discover the city of Funchal : the colorful market, take one of the two cable cars up to the Jardim Botanico, visit the Museum, taste the local wine…
